VISIT TO SOUTH SUDAN EMBASSY ON 14TH SEPTEMBER, 2016.
The Igbo World Union National Executive were led by her president General; “Gburuguru Ndigbo Dum” His Imperial Majesty Amb. (Dr) Sir, Mishak Nnanta, on a courtesy visit to the south Sudan Embassy. Received on arrival at the Embassy by the Ambassador Dr. Reik Puok Reik, with his Secretary Mr. Khamis Pio. In his Imperial Majesty’s entourage were the following; National women leader Rev. Dr. Mrs Kate uzuegbunam, Sec. Gen, Engr. Peter Uyalemuo, Northern Zone Women coordinator, Chief Mrs. Fidel Orji, Chairman FCT Mr Chinedu Ezeaka, FCT Treasurer Chief mrs. Tessy Abalog, Engr. Peter off IWU introduced members of IWU present on the meet and propose of visit which the Ambassador consented to.
Ambassador speaking; seeks to know what IWU is all about, her aims and objective. His imperial Majesty speaking; introduced IWU, her objectives, with the paramount aim of greater unity and synergy between Ndigbo and their host communities in Nigeria and beyond, to the world at large. Decisions to honour the South Sudan envoy was reached at the last Igbo world summit held in New York, a prelude to visit. Pouring encomiums on the south Sudan Envoy for maintaining balance relationship with Nigeria at large and ndigbo in particular. IWU seeks more business and investment opportunities for both.
Envoy speaks; thanking Gburuguru Ndigbo Dum immensely for seeking out more ways to strengthen the existing ties between south Sudan and us, to an improved investments and business opportunities. Moreso, very grateful for the consideration of an imperial award. According to the envoy, South Sudan have rich aqua cultures, abundant resources; Gold, diamond, uranium, oil etc. These resources are yet to be exploited. South Sudan throws her doors open with enhanced security for prospective investors. We would welcome worthy investors. Although South Sudan is going through a tortuous process of transition, courtesy of the peace treaty signed in 2015. There is no report of maltreatment to Nigeria business men in South Sudan, especially the Igbo community, whose business efforts are more pronounced with their forming the only Nigerian-Sudan chamber of commerce.

His Imperial Majesty was grateful for the deep information, agreeing to honour the Envoy with the title of “Dike Oma Ndigbo Dum,” from henceforth he is a bonafide son of Igbo land. Envoy was invited to the forthcoming/next edition of IWU/Gburuguru Ndigbo Dum Offala held in 2nd January of every year. IWU departed for other official engagements.
